Ilse Emma Machein

Ilse Emma Machein, 70, a 40-year resident of Palo Alto, died Dec. 27, 1994, at home of colon cancer.

Born in Berlin, she came to Palo Alto in 1954. She received bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology from San Jose State University and worked as a school psychologist for Union School District in San Jose. After receiving her Ph.D. in clinical psychology, she established a private practice.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Kurt R. Machein of Palo Alto; two daughters, Monica Bassill and Candace Wujtowicz; and two grandchildren.
