Delloyd Ulander, D.D.S., age 96, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., passed away on March 7, 2012.
Delloyd was born in Stanley, Wis., on Nov. 11, 1915, the son of George and Jenny Ulander. He attended the University of Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota from which he received a degree of doctor of dentistry.
Dr. Ulander had his office in Edina, Minn., and served on the teaching staff of the University of Minnesota until he was drafted in the Army at the rank of Major. Upon his discharge from the Army, the Ulander family moved to Palo Alto, Calif., where he practiced dentistry for 35 years.
He retired to Sun Lakes, Ariz., for the rest of his life. He was active and served as an officer in several organizations which included President of the Palo Alto Lions Club, Shrine Club, life member of the Sequoia Yacht Club, Palo Alto Elks Club, charter member of the Palo Alto Hills Golf Club and member of the Stanford Golf Club.
His hobbies were golf, music and sailing. Sailboat racing was the hobby he loved and took the most interest in. He collected several trophies, including three national championship races with his 37 foot sailboat. In his older years, his hobbies were confined mostly to music, bridge and golf, which he loved to play.
Dr. Ulander is survived by his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Sheri Breeding and Marilyn Waldron; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
