Four train tracks may still be ahead for MV

Part of the growing popularity of a "blended system" for high-speed rail and Caltrain is that Palo Alto and other cities may be spared the addition to two tracks to their Caltrain right of way. Other cities, but not Mountain View. Adding two more train tracks is still on the table for Mountain View, according to a recent Caltrain analysis.

I don't see what is wrong with depressing Castro Street starting at Villa, with a pedestrian crossing at Evelyn. From this story I'm not sure if Mayor Kasperzak favors blocking off Castro St. Instead just raise the train 9' and sink Castro St. down 9' and be done with it. No more waiting for trains to cross!

The problem with underpass at castro is the western side. What if an underpass was built, but instead of going to Castro, traffic heading from moffett go under caltrain and turn left to surface on Evelyn. There's no parking on Castro St itself, and this would direct cars directly to parking lots and the station. Castro street heading across caltrain would simply turn left instead of going across the tracks. What do you think?

As for the old station, someone should get fired for poor planning of putting that building too close to the tracks.

more Shoreline East, so MV new train station location is like in Menlo Park among other Bay Area small towns and San Mateo - quaint, convenient. Like the Palo Alto parents and volunteer crossing guards who patrolled the various Palo Alto train track crossings after the series of high school suicides.

Another death with Eric Salvatierra shows it's time to trench the tracks throughout the peninsula - not widen them even more. How many more people have to die?
