Voices Around Town

If you could compete in any Olympic sport, what would it be?

Asked in downtown Mountain View. Pictures and interviews by Rebecca Alger.

"I would choose football (soccer) because it was very unfortunate that I didn't get to play when I was young, so I feel like it I could play it now. I would do it and just rock it."

Gyanesh Iama, St. Louis

"I think the sport I would like to do first would be the marathon. I've run one and it was a really transformative experience for me. Getting through (gave me) a real feeling of accomplishment and it was exhilarating, as difficult as it was."

Hunter Whitney, Mountain View

"My favorite Olympic sport is beach volleyball. I would love to do that. I love the beach."

Lisa Whides, Mountain View

"It would be gymnastics. It looks like a lot of fun and it looks like something that's filled with joy when you're in the middle of doing it."

Teresa Smith, Sunnyvale

"If I could do any sport in the Olympics, I would do gymnastics because it's just gorgeous."

Debra McGuire, San Francisco
