Voices Around Town

What's your take on the Yahoo! ban on working from home?

Asked in downtown Mountain View. Photos and interviews by Nick Veronin.

"I appreciate the flexibility of picking where I work from. Then again, it's nice to actually have an office and colleagues to be with and chat with, so I'm kind of in the middle on this one."

Drew Dara-Abrams, San Francisco

"I'm familiar with the trials of commuting. I think work from home is a really important privilege to have. But I think it is a company's right to treat it as a privilege."

Christine Moschella, San Francisco

"I'm from a different era, but I think there is a tremendous amount of time and effort lost to the Internet. I would imagine it might be as much as 30 percent. So, if I were her, I would certainly have done this."

H.G. Wire, Mountain View

"I work for Cisco, Norway. I know telecommuting works. We have the eye contact with video. I work with people in Bangalore, India. We telecommute across continents and it works."

Anders Eikenes, Norway

"I've recently been doing a little bit more telecommuting and I find that if I mix the two, I actually get a lot done. My opinion is that strictly eliminating (it) isn't the right choice."

Joe Doliner, Palo Alto
