Voices Around Town

What is one thing the IRS can do to make filing your taxes easier?

Asked in downtown Mountain View. Photos and interviews by Samson So.

"I think the IRS should pass many of the tax simplification rules. Filing would be simplified in terms of getting a summary sheet from the IRS of what you owe. You sign it and they send you off."

Paris Buttfield, Mountain View

"I think we should have a flat tax rate with no deductions. That would make filling out your form pretty simple."

Ann Pease, Mountain View

"I wish the IRS could condense some of their tax jargon. It would be quicker and easier to understand."

Justin Stark, Los Angeles.

"There just seems to be so many forms. Being an independent contractor also means having to fill out extra ones."

Courtney Ronca, Mountain View

"Right now you have to do a lot of different forms and get third-party software. If they had a really great, easy-to-use website, people would like to do their taxes and they would get their money quicker."

Tom Fitzgerald, Maryland
