Voices Around Town

What was your most memorable travel fiasco?

Asked in downtown Mountain View. Photos and interviews by Elize Manoukian

"Because of the whole thing that happened at SFO, I didn't get to go home until Monday. I got stuck in a hotel for a night with my family. I had two layovers on the way back on Monday, it was pretty bad."

Caitlin Bourg, Sunnyvale

"When I was in Italy, I almost missed my train. There were a couple of dudes running at the same time. I decided to go with them (to Cinque Terre). I came back to calls from the consulate and my parents and everyone I know who all thought I was dead."

David Spinks, San Francisco

"I ended up missing my flight out of Cairo. So I had to spend the night with the two guys I was traveling with. We didn't know where to sleep, so we ended up spending the night on the floor of a mall."

Nadia Eqbal, San Francisco

"I was in Prague, and I got pickpocketed by a woman. She kept yelling in my ear, 'Hotel! Sex!' ... The next morning I realized she had actually taken 2000 Croner from me, which is only like 80 euros."

Perry Cross, Scotts Valley

"The plane was broken so I arrived (in India) one day later, and my friends weren't there. Somebody in the airplane offered to bring me to his home, because Delhi wasn't a very safe airport. I ended up in this Indian guy's home without a mobile phone on Christmas Day."

Jan Soderberg, Stockholm
