El Camino bus lanes nixed by council, again

The City Council spent two and half hours discussing a plan for dedicated bus rapid transit lanes on El Camino Real on Tuesday, coming to the same position it came to after a similar discussion in June — opposed.

Are you sure you mean that the bus lanes are in the middle of the street, meaning they cross traffic to get there from bus stops. That's crazy. Normally bus lanes are at the edge of the road, nearest the curb. If there were no parking allowed on El Camino that would make it much easier for bikes. However, given that bikes have to constantly cross entrances to strip malls and streets, I don't recommend biking on El Camino.

Even though Google Maps has suggested biking on El Camino, there are better routes - like California Street.
