Spring farm tours

Deer Hollow Farm is opening for three spring farm tours, giving locals a chance to take the kids to meet the farm's new kids — as well as chicks and lambs — on Saturdays, March 16, April 20, and May 18.

Docent-led tours offer a chance to meet the animals and learn about life on a homestead as it would have been in 1850. Besides sheep, goats and chickens, the farm is also home to rabbits, ducks, pigs and geese. The highlight is Luna the cow and her new calf Roxie. Docents will be on hand to answer questions, and there will be activities for children

Tours run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and cost $7 per person, free for babies under age 1. Deer Hollow is a 10-acre working farm partially funded by the city of Mountain View. It's located about a mile from the main entrance of Rancho San Antonio County Park. Information is online at www.fodhf.org.

New farmers market

A new mid-week farmers market is opening in Mountain View. Palo Alto Medical Foundation's Mountain View Center is teaming up with Full Circle Farm for a new farmers market kicking off on March 20. The market will be open from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays in the upper level parking lot at 701 El Camino Real. More information, and updated previews of what the market will have to offer, are at pamf.org/farmersmarket.
