Workers go on strike at BMW dealership

Original post made on Jun 6, 2008

Mechanics and service writers at BMW of Mountain View went on strike this week, saying their reputation for doing high-quality work at "the last honest BMW dealer in the Bay Area" was on the line.

LOL, sucks for Auto Nation.
Good for the workers, commission based pay- is not that good at all, especially if they have a family to feed.

I run a shop doing BMW, Mercedes, Mini & Volvo repair at the end of Yuba (the street that splits the BMW & Mini dealers). I do not like what Autonation is doing to their workers. I almost went to work for them in the past. I do a lot of business with them, but am really looking at the outcome here. The grapevine is saying that many dealers have already rolled over that were put in this position which has led to an incompetent work staff that is fresh out of school and can't fix a car. Support the workers and the independents. We are not competition but comrads.

Thanks for your support. It has always been a pleasure dealing with you; you are extremely professional. I'd recommend for those of you who need maintenance or repairs for your BMW/Mini, and you're out of warranty and paying out of pocket, give Corporate Auto Works a try.

If people come to BMW of mountain view to buy a car, or just drive by and see us out front thay think ya thats sucks but what can I do?
what you can do is NOT buy a car until this strike is over, also you can get on line and give us your support.beside me being the car bizz
I can tell you,by the time the strike ends the car you were looking for will be cheaper due to the lack of sales during the strike.
If autonation suceeds with the commission rate of pay for advisors and techs we will all lose, the customer will lose when thay bring ther car in for repairs when suddenly we find expensive problems with your car that were not there before. the consumer should be the concerned the most , because thay will be hit with the large repair bills.Advisors and tech will unfortunatly learn to adapt and have no guilt when thay are taking your money, thay will learn to take thier hearts out thier pockets, because thats the way autonation wants there stores to be .Keep in mind, the BWM store is not the only store that will be this way,all of autonations stores are like this,so dont think this just affects BMW customers
thnks
please forgive my grammer

I wonder if the union boss is out there with them. NOPE. He is too busy collecting the union dues of those other poor souls that keep paying and dont even know what they are paying for. Unions support the employee that can't cut the mustard at anything else in life. So therefore just keep standing out there in the sunshine and enjoy your day becouse the dealership is still gonna sell cars and the customers you run away will just stay gone when you get done with this little game you call a strike. Good luck autonation. Keep them walking and we will keep buying and servicing our vehicles at your other stores

Jerry, Nick, and James...
It seems the 3 of you have the same view. That's perfectly fine by all means. The 3 of you should bring your vehicle to S.C BMW. The service is great and I'll more than likely make a buck or more off of you by services that are not needed. WITHOUT HESITATION...LOL. I'm great at it. TRUST ME.It's sad but the bottom line is I'm going to make my 40 hours one way or the other. Either by cutting a few corners here and there on customer pay jobs or warranty, or and upsell that is not really needed. I don't do that often, but it does occur. Makes no difference to me. Don't get me wrong. I love my job. No doubt about that. I've been on the line for about 10 years now. Enough to know that are few if any honest flat rate BMW techs around. It's a tough business. Good luck to you guys. FIGHT! We folded.... =(

This is in response to the comments by
James jerry and nick
We know people are getting laid off everyday this happens all the time with certain kinds of jobs.for instance essembly line worker or a job that most people could just walk into without any special training,or the dot commer that was hired when times were good, but now is no longer needed because some one cheaper or from another county took there jobs.We are far from idiots, all of the techs and advisors must be trained by BMW and certfied to work there at any dealership involving high line cars.all of us that work at this dealership have years of traing and thounsands of dollars invested in specialty tools to repair these highly technical cars. There is not enough techs or advisors in the bay area who are certified to work on your cars.So in closing I would like to remind nick james and jerry this is a specailty occupation its not just a job you can walk into and perform because you think you can. Also it is unlikely that some one will offer, or for that matter could even perform my job for less money.Make no mistake we are very competent and we have pulled are weight for years.

thanks

People in the automotive repair industry envy us for standing up to a fortune 500 company that pays its CEO bonuses bigger then his annual income for just going on CNN and blabbing how well the company is doing, WHY? because they cut corners so much that the technicians can not even fix the car the same day its diagnosed. WHY ?because there are no parts in stock. but they pat the parts manager on the back and hand him a nice bonus check because he showed a profit. Think about that the next time your in a loaner car for 3 days for a simple service.
and Thanks Nick James and Jerry for making me even more proud to be out there fighting for what we deserve..You are just bitter cus you cant sell a damn car with us out front.or your just a big mouth idiot who just bends over for corprate butt sex....
Koorosh your a looser and I hope you wreck this car too. your precious M6 you distroyed because you drive like a idiot

Death to Smoochy!!

How stupid to condemn or praise something without understanding ANY aspect or the contrversay giving rise to the dispute:
1. The Union does not want their contract changed in any degree;
2. The Union does not want to contribute more for medical care;
3. The Union does not want to give up flat rate for piece work (Under flat rate a tech is paid for a job, as definec by a standard work-book and complete it, or not, in the time allowed; under piece work a tech may more efficiently complete a job, and take onother, while being paid the standard-wook-book rate for the first job and the second. This results in higher efficiency for the company and less time "on the rack" for the customer. Wherfore Unions?

After reading the postings it is clear that many peopole do not understand what the employees at this dealership are fighting for. They do not believe that they should babied or treated with kid gloves, but believe that they should not have a large Corperation mandate thier working conditions just because they can at thier other facilities. As I understand it, they just wanted to maintain what they had, and did not expect large rasies or increased benefits. The issue of flat rate is a major concern, because if the Employer can not provide the workers with work, the employees must stay there and recieve no pay. I really doubt must people would want to work under those conditions. These technicians have spend on average of 40 to 50k on tools that they paid for so the company can make a profit from the customer, how many pepole out there must put out that kind of exspense just so they can have a job. Please respect these people for they are standing up for and what they believe in, remember this is still America.

Message for autonation
You have people who check your annual numbers to let you know where the corporation stands, do you have a person who checks on your emplyees and what you have done to there lives and there familys lives with this program you have made your other stores go to.When you get hired at autonation you are required to watch video on ethics and herasment and discrimination.I dont think it is ethical to film people on the strike line for the purpose of retaliation againts these emplyees on the tape after the strike comes to a end.I also do not think it is ethical for a person within management to make the the decission to damage new stock units then blame it on the strikers.I Just want to let the public know the strikers had no access to these cars ,these cars were parked in the upstairs parking structure under guard,by hired security.Autonation I wonder do you have a person watching the person making these unehtical and non productive decissions.Sometimes if you remove the cancer you can try and start to heal.Autonation, please listen when say, this kind of actions and behavier is not going to help us get back together as a profitable and ethical company. It is evident that the strikers are not going to exept the condition you have proposed to them. Both sides are losing money every minute we are on strike, but more important we are losing clients that will never come back.customers are losing more and more trust in BMW of mountain view the more they learn about the way autonation really runs behind the scenes. The other dealerships that are taking our customer away are on there best behavier.thay will succeed in taking these customer away for life.I have read that customer are getting loaners cars comped when normally thay would have to pay for a rental at these other dealership.I have also read that the cars are getting fixed faster with less intervention from service managers telling customers there cars will not be fixed under warranty for one reason or the other.I Know for sure if this goes on mutch longer mountain view BMW will be a high cost and non productive parking lot filled only with managers making more non productive decissions and sales people on the verge of leaving because of no car sales.Autonation I hope you have a person to read this message.I know you have a good amount of highly compensated people to check on your the other aspects of your organization, you should look at those personal to cut out the fat and leave the honest hard workibg back bone of your organization alone.

thanks

thank you

Yet another example of corporate greed run amok. There's something totally out of balance with a system that enshrines short-term profit above all else. In an individual, we would consider it pathological; but in corporations, it's the basis and goal of their existence. Auto Nation isn't even part of this community, and their actions show that they could care less about it. Providing good service, not ripping off their customers or their employees, seem to have no weight in their decisions. The union mechanics' fight is to continue to work in an environment which supports providing the best service, and thereby supports the community; I strongly hope they prevail.

I worked for a Private Store making six figures a year then THEY bought us and now I'm making 35K a year. I've spent a tremindous amount of time building my buisness and they just keep taking from us. Check out www.destroyautonation.com and be a supporter!!! They have ruined our lives.

I'm a former MINI of Mountain View customer wishing nothing but the best for the striking workers. You've always treated me with respect and done great things for my car. However, I now want nothing to do with your evil corporate overlords.

"Concerned" is absolutely right that the other dealers are on their best behavior. We had to take our MINI to another dealer for service as our warranty was about to expire. Can't believe how well we were treated. They authorized all repairs without any hassle (MV wanted us to authorize a potential $1600 charge just to look at our clutch, just in case they could claim issues were our fault). When I called on a Monday afternoon, they gave us an appointment for the next morning. When we picked up the car, it was nicely detailed inside and out. And as an unexpected bonus, we were not charged for our two-day rental car.

Auto Nation has probably lost a customer for life. I really did appreciate the quality service we received from the MINI of Mountain View staff, and would gladly take my car to those individuals for future work as long as it's not under the current corporate umbrella. But I'll be damned if I ever buy a car from MINI of Mountain View (or any other Auto Nation dealer). And whattaya know ... right as we were starting to shop for a new Clubman.

Auto Nation: you can't scr3w your team and expect to keep your customers. BUH-bye.

I checked out www.destoyautnation.com

I was not aware we worked for such a corrupt fortune 5oo member.
fortune 500 should be more aware of who thay are letting in there club.I suppose if we lose the fight we will have to conform to the way autonation wants us to conduct bussiness. We will have to conform to ripping customers off with the matrix system you are demanding we use for customer pay issues at all of your dealerships.I JUST WISH AUTONATION WOULD FESS UP TO OUR CUSTOMERS THAT IT IS AUTONATION MAKING US RIP THEM OFF, SO WE CAN PAY OUR BILLS AND FEED OUR FAMILIES.Note to the customers that we still have left,If we lose this fight you will never be able to trust me or any of us again, because one way or another I am going to feed my family and I am going to find a way to pay my heath insurance for my wife and kids
and it will be at your expence, because thats the way autonation will be forcing us to do with there commission based pay structure and ther huge heath cuts.

NOTE TO AUTONATION
THE PC. IS STRONGER THAN ANY SWORD,SOON YOU WILL BE COMPLETLY EXPOSED FOR WHAT YOU REPRESENT.THERE WILL BE NO TIME TO BACK PEDAL.
YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING.

As a former, and I emphasize former, employee of BMW of Mountain View, as well as Anderson Chevrolet. Both owned by Autonation. I can relate and only hope for the best for the employees on strike at the moment! As time passes and corporate greed continues, people need to stand up for what is right for them and their families! I have been an employee of autonation for ten years, and every year more and more is taken away from workers without any compensation what so ever. Whether it be health insurance to just a basic pay plan, to even taking away sick , overtime, and even vacation time. Being the "family" orientated business they claim, that is not "family values" to me at all!!!!!

Best of luck to all employees there!!

Former Autonation employee for 10 years!!

Thanks everyone for the support. Its just sad what these big corporations do to their employees. We are not asking for more than what we have. Alot of people assume we are striking because we are greedy and want more. Thats not the case. We are just trying to keep what we have. Why would anyone accept a substantial pay cut, have all their sick days removed, be put on commision, have medical insurance(thats deducted from their check each month) increase by $400($1000 deductible just to see the Doctor!), completely remove all dental and vision coverage, and have 4 paid holidays removed. What has any of us done to deserve this. I guess the 30+ million made in profit every quarter is not enough for this fortune 500 giant.

As a fellow union worker, it is always difficult when it has to come down to a strike to stand up for what you believe in. I know these hard working employees are fighting for what they believe is fair and not asking for anything more than that. I hope that more people realize this and not jump to conclusions of what they "think" is happening. These men and women are doing what they need to do to continue supporting their families, and should be given that much respect for their choice to do so.

So when you pass by...give them a honk or two and even throw out a peace sign to let them know that you support their cause. Standing out there all day in the hot sun is not an easy thing to do and they do it to make sure that they are taken seriously.

Best wishes Mountain View Strikers...I'll be honking my horn!

The members would love all the support and you can do your part to protest big business greed and demand them to address there unethical treatment of there employees. Help put a stop to the cooperation greed come out stand up and be heard, tell them that you are not going to take it anymore. I would also ask the public to call....e-mail.... or write autonation some letters disscribing you disgust with the way they do business...

I would like to expand on the idea of coming out to support the strikers.it would be really cool for the general public to come out and join us,or just drop by with a cold drink. Some people thing! what could I really do to help? the best thing that anyone could do for us is to make this as public as possible through the internet.I would incurrage you to do some research about autonation corp and what they have done to there employees through out the us.when you think about fuel prices and health cost you feel frustrated as I do,but you can't just sit back and take it,you can't tell yourself oh well thats the way things are.Things are like they are because we have let it happen to us for so long it feels like the norm.I as well as my co workers on the strike line can no longer take it anymore. We have adapted to our limits, ther is no more room for loss.
We are not asking for anything out of this strike,we are not asking for money, nor are we asking for anymore heathcare than we allready have,we are just want to be left alone as things were and get back to work.I have talked it over with my family and we decided if we lose this fight , I will resign my position rather than have to be very dishonest to my customers.I could make a big fat check from ripping my customer off under commission based pay,but now my kids are aware of what I would have to do to make that big fat check. Its one thing to be ashamed of what you do in front of customer, but it is a very different thing to sit across the dinner table form you wife and kids and them knowing how they got those nice steaks there eating. Some readers may think oh what a looser, it is what it is take the money and get over it.But let me tell you something, it is what is ,because we have let it happens for to long.
get on line and wright letters,or if anyone has access to any kind of good media we need that kind of help.We need your help to win.
be a part of how the average joe can win against a dishonest corp.

thank for your support

A Hardy BRAVO!!! to all of my fellow workers, and to those that are both sympathetic and supportive to our Strike. The decision to go on Strike was a 65-0 vote;it was not a tough decision to make, but knowing how Autonation is going to try and crush it is the difficult part of our decision. Both stores were very busy, booking appointments as far as 2-weeks in advance. We very honestly apologize to our customers for what is going on, all of us were put out by this sad event. But..... the nurses went on strike for wages and conditions, the waste managemant, the janitors, and so many other organizations that make our clothes,cars,houses,roads-I could go on and on about those that said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! At both the MINI store and the BMW store,we have highly trained folks that take genuine pride in our work, and are proud to say we work at these shops. We've had water dropped off by The Mountain View Fire Department,Pizzas from The Billiard/Pool Hall on El Camino down the street, free transport from Cal Train to get to our site and home, and I know of many more supporters. To all of you, a big HOORAY!!! We know it will be tough in this economy for all of us involved, but to punish us for a job well done, making Autonation good money in the process, and expanding the original Mechanics force from the 'teens to over 60 Mechanics-Why are we being slammed!?!?!????? Again, thanks so much to all of those that are honking, dropping by to commit support, and can understand why we've made this choice. Autonation needs to remember how America was built- With Honor and Pride in a job well done. Not how many bucks the corporation can make by taking away from the "Little Guy"...We Ask For Nothing,Autonation is Taking Away Too Much!!!!!

Have to say that unfortunately corporate greed is in full swing. Ultimately Autonation will go belly up. sell off or basically liquidate in some form. Incomptent lower and upper level management that is currently in Autonation will have to find some other place to ruin a company. Autonations lack of people/personnel skills is at the heart of this problem. This is nothing new, why do you think the stock has tanked over the last few years by well over 50%, it sure isn't the economy ofr a union shop. Look at the top and work your way down. It is a waterfall of idiocy.

BMW has stuctured there clients to be pampered babies. Where eles does it take an appointment to look at a car? On top of that BMW offer free maintience for the first 3 years.... Thus your New car buyers don't care how you price the bills. They sell after a few years and get another maintience contract.

It's us long tearm owners that have been getting the shaft by BMW and the Union and Dealer. We have learned to stay away from the dealership already. $150 for an oil change?
$5 for a bulbs $200 battery? Then you tack on that quality labor @ $175 /hour. Sorry the hard working people who care about affordability have left and those new BEMMER owners are too buzy to care.

If you think you got the shaft before ,see what happens if we lose this strike battle and go on commission.one day you will need the dealership because independents do not have all the tools and knowledge that out tech have.we will have no choice other than to sell you everything under the sun so we can eat.thanks to autonation.
don't blame us,all the people on strike are out on the streets so we can stay honest, not so we can take more of your money.

I understand how you guys feel. But, you have to understand that if you will change your view it will be good. The sooner, the better. Auto Nation may not be the best employer, but you have to see that economy is not at its best, and with the current gas prices they are having a hard time selling their inventory and make money. Of course, the CEO must be having fun at this moment in a 7star hotel, but he educated and did hard work to reach there, lets just add a bit of luck (if you believe in it). Auto Nation has to earn more profit in order to keep your jobs, and the jobs of other thousands.

You guys are auto workers, right? Look at the more industry relevant affect of strikes. The British Leland used to make some nice cars in the begining, but when the workers started spending more time in strikes, the quality went down and so are the sales. They have to sell all their brands to Germans manufacturers. And then we have the idiots (Auto Workers) in Detroit, who started making shitty cars to spite the management that gave the entrance to Japanese and European cars. The Guy who was incharge of Saturn, decided that he has to move the new brand (Saturn) out of Detroit and Union crap, in order to maintain the quality. And many of you will know that Saturn, still today, is the best quality American car. Union and Strikes has never done any good to the blue collar workers.

So, don't listen to Union, and go to work. You should be lucky that you have jobs in the current economy. When the economy improves, leave the Auto Nation and join more satifactory employer. Meanwhile, keep on looking for work with another dealer that is not owned by Auto Nation. Have a job, before you leave this one.

Good luck guys, and I hope you will be out of this crappy situation soon!

As a 20 year union supported mechanic of United Airlines, I and thousands of others know all too well what "corporate greed" means: artificial profit from forced worker sacrifice. euro4's thinking is both irresponsible and dangerous. It's this kind of thinking that's bolstered Corporate America into greed and outsourcing not to mention reduced wages and benefits. People like "euro4" is what Corporate America banks on. "euro4" believes in LAY DOWN AND TAKE IT. Too many of my fellow employees did this in times past. We suffer years later because of it. There's no more room for this kind of weak thinking. It's time to stand up and FIGHT for what's right!
If you don't have the courage to support those who have the courage to stand up against wrongdoing, kindly step out of the way. It's time to MAN-UP or SHUT-UP!!
I'm proud of all of you on the line. I support you and respect you. CARRY ON!!!

You want to know what is really amazing. You fools are talking all this crap about Autonation but yet you are standing on the street fighting to get back to work with them. That is really amazing to me. I can't understand why all of you would sit back and make all of these nasty comments yet you wan't to work for them so bad that you will suffer walking the streets while making no income. AMAZING. Or is it that Autonation is really not a bad company at all. Look in the mirror. It may be the greedy person you see that is the real problem. WoW. This whole thread is like a comic book. Full of fairy tales. Wake up people if you don't like it go some where else. Guess what. you can't because it is going to be a flat rate shop also. Just like the salesman in the sales department. you get paid for what you do. (sale) And if you can't do that honestly then you are in the wrong business. Matter of fact you should not be in any business. Because like all sales if you are good at what you do and you are honest you will be profitable. Being flat rate does not make me a thief. It makes me work hard and it makes me be responsibe for what I do. Hmmm. Im a good person and a great Technician. I have no worries and make 100k a year because im honest and work hard. So anyway thats my story. And no I don't work for Autonation and no I don't know any of you. But what I do know is this business. Anyway thats my 2 cents worth.

For those you complaining that these guys should just shut up and get back to work...
You can put your tail back between your legs and get back to brown nosing your corporate master, the rest of us will not take it lying down anymore.

We must all fight to take back our country, our morals, and our labor back from Wall Street and return it to Main Street. We used to labor to build up our community, state, country, to provide a good product or service at a fair price and profit. Now we work to increase earnings per share, to build nothing but profits by providing the minimum service for the maximum profit.

We have lost our way, we know it, and we will not take it anymore! Keep up the good fight!

See, this is the problem. All you guys talk about is strength and unity, but only when smoking pot and beer. This is your life and you live in dreams. You have no idea how it is to be without work. Ask someone who has experienced it.

You know you will break down, and if you think Auto Nation will...you are in for a big surprise. The Auto Nation, as we know today is so big that dozen of you guys, and another 500 won't make a difference.

We are tired of our brothers and sisters of this country complaining about the shitty jobs they do, and the salaries they get. Why don't you all guys go and sod off to Communist China?? You can't work, you don't want to work, and all you want is first class training, new expensive uniforms, top of the line tools, 10 flavors of coffee, and a 100K annual salary. And, I am not talking only about you. I am talking about everyone who goes and makes a union.

You all complain that Walmart is shit and sells everything made in China. It happened because idiots like you want the top wages, 40 hrs, and expensive insurance plan. No wonder China and India are coming so fast, because they work and not complain. You guys know the price of bread, but the workers in other countries knows the value.

Keep fighting, and keep this thread alive. I know you are going to loose this one. We need more Republicans in this country to make some lazy bums work!

Euro4 I feel bad for you ,it sounds like you have given up on your on your life and dreams. You have given up and settled for what some one has told you are worth.you may be right, we might loose this fight ,but not before we let the public know how thay are being treaded unfairly and getting ripped off by autonation. You can by a car cheaper from a non autonation dealer and some of our employees have because even with our discount it is still high. Also when you get your car fixed at a non autonation dealer thay can tell you what you are paying for item by item.wiht autonation labor matrix guide you can give you customer a straight answer. Are we supposed to tell our customers that the more hours I sell you the hourly labor goes up because thats the way the matrix system is set up,no we can tell our customers that, because if we do we will probably be fired for exposing the unfair matrix system. These are the things we are trying to stop.we are not asking for more money or more medical bennys,we just want to keep what we have.euro4 it sounds like you have settled ,and thats ok for people like you.As for going to china, that might be a good experience for you becasue that is a counrty that will tell you when to work when to stop working, when you to have an opinion, when to say yeser masser.SOUNDS LIKE SOMTHING YOUVE LEARNED TO EXEPT.Good luck to you euro4 keep on putting those 15hour days in just to get by.Besides that good enough for people like you that have settled and given up

Striker, you smell like a union rep.

All I said was that it will make sense to work now during the troubled economy and find a better employer, meanwhile. However, some union rep and publicist won't understand this and will drag the other dozens to the out of work. Only, if you ever understood the importance of a job.

Also, what do you guys think?, that Auto Nation will change their policy billing matrix? That one day Auto Nation will be brought down by you guys? That people will remember you forever and will never buy a car from Auto Nation? People in this country have a habit of forgetting things rather too soon. The other day, on TV, some party girls didn't even remember the year when the Sep-11 tragedy happened. One actually said that it happened in 2005. So, what do you think that people will remember what you fought for?? Champ, the prospective buyers may not come when you are picketing in front of the dealership, but the day you guys will move, they will come.

I drive an Audi, and leave it to the dealer for maintenance. I am happy as long as they service it as per the manufacturer's spec and to my satisfaction. The other day, they charged $1200 to replace the front CV boot and to change the oil and spark plugs. Do you think I care? Do you think anyone who buys a 50K+ car will care? No. We don't have time to worry about $200 here and there. We pay for comfort and convenience. Of course, some second hand owners of these luxury marques may think twice or will take it to indi shops.

Yes, I do sometimes work for more than 15 hrs. And no, I don't get hourly wages. Also, I don't live too far from your dealership. Definitely, not in China.

Good luck euro4
Im happy for you if you are content with what you have to do to
earn a buck.
Also thats great you make enough money not to have to care what you spend for comfort and convenience.
By the way Im not a union rep,I work at mtn bmw,you have no idea what we have to deal with at this store.
you also dont know what they are trying to take away from us.
If you live close to the delership ,you will be able to witness the place slowly turn into a muti million dallar dead hole in the econamy of mountain view, because people do forget, by the time they do there will be 3 foot weeds in the show room parking lot.and we all will be working some place else.

Te fact that finding a good mechaic is near impossible these days. Is only shown by the fact that the dealer had to import "scab" techs from all over and only a handful at best. Not even any real talent, overpriced mediocrity who has no vested interest in the community much less the state, they just hide

If you think this strike is about greed your correct its all about corporate greed, you say that the economy is in bad shape, people getting laid off daily and fuel prices are through the roof. Thanks BUSH!!!! But the CEO of Autonation is still taking home his huge salary and even bigger bonuses annually and for what? screwing over all the employees that keep the money coming in..blabing on CNN how well the company is doing...
I would love to see every employee of Autonation that feels they are being screwed to walk out in protest, and I know as a fact that its in the 90% range.... Go ahead managment fire us all and see if anyone will apply to replace us at the crap wages and benefits you are offering...nooo you have to offer them way more to get them in then screw them out of it later.... The scabs working in the mountain view store are only there because they have been threatened that they will loose their jobs and are also making $45 a hour which is way over anything they have offered the highly trained and professional employees they already had. So all you people that think you know what business is are all trained from the same book which is titled "How to screw your employees"...........
IT was said by some big mouthed fat ahole of autonation that we will all be fired and never work for Autonation again well if that happens it would be a blessing wouldn't it,and there will also be a nice lawsuit filed .. but in the mean time the lack of service vehicles which before we went on strike was approx 100 a day um times $175 a hour plus parts sales etc etc ..loss of new and used car sales and lack of new car stock delivery is not helping your business either..
Those of you that are complaining about the pricing for getting repairs to your vehicles that are out of warranty are also out of line, Do you complain about the price when you visit your doctor?? does he care ?? NOPE !!! We are Doctors for your car If you want to pay less there are plenty of independent BMW shops in the Bayarea go see them get your cheaper price at the door and a repair from someone who probably learned how to fix cars under a shade tree by his daddy >>> oh and NO LOANER CAR for you while yours is being fixed - you can call enterprise to come pick you up if you want to rent a car.
ever been to jiffylube for a oil change? did they actually change your oil? did they put the correct oil filter in it or just one that fits? did they strip the threads on your drain plug??
Your driving our car while yours is being fixed, you have a factory trained technician fixing all your cars problems with factory parts and repair proceedures.
this can go on and on if you can't support us then thats your choice and for those who support us daily THANK YOU
for those who have dropped off the cases of water - ice creams - and other support THANK YOU VERY MUCH..

Im really happy your doing so well making all that money drivng your fancy car... with the last contract we had most of us can barley afford to live in this area let along drive a nice euro yuppy mobile. but im sure your highly educated and have never cheated on your taxes and are the most honest person in the world right? your not perfect so quit trying to tell people what is best for them we can make our own decisions.. our work speaks for itself and our good customers will return to use because they understand why we are doing what we are doing.
oh and for your information we are all out of work right now experiencing it like you want us to and for the record i work harder then you guaranteed and dont like 10 flavors of coffee

BOTTOM LINE IS ,WE MAY NOT WIN OR GET TO KEEP WHAT WE HAD AS FAR AS
PAY AND MEDICAL ,BUT ONE THING IS FOR SURE ,THIS BMW LOCATION WILL
DECLINE TO THE POINT OF NO RETURN WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF THE FORMER TECH AND ADVISOR.YOU CAN NOT HIRE ENOUGH QUALIFED TECHS OR ADVISORS,BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ENOUGH
TO BE HIRED.YOU MUST BE CERTIFIED TO WORK ON THE CARS.THERE SIMPLY IS NOT ENOUGH TECHS QUALIFED.
YOU HAVE SEEN SALES DROP DRASTICLEY,ALSO SERVICE HAS BEEN ALL BUT HALTED,THIS IS JUST THE BEGINING,THIS STRIKE IS STILL IN ITS INFANCY.
LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS AT THE BARGENING TABLE .IF THEY DONT COME UP WITH SOMETHING ,THIS IS GOING TO GET UGLY FAST.

Ok,ok, let's all take a deep breath now. "euro4" has made us all a bit upset from feeling the pinch of this strike. There is a way however, he can make it up to all of you. "euro4"... when you're done "LAYING DOWN AND TAKING IT", please fetch all of the fine people standing on the line a good cup of coffee. Heck, these fine folks might even offer you a couple of bucks as a tip from the "100k??" they make a year.
By the way, here in the good ole' U.S. of A, we prefer to "DRINK" our beer, not smoke it.
Be constructive now little man, not de-structive.
Either stand up with the brave folks on the line, or continue to hang with the festering scabs your kind has always been attracted to.

To Jerry other neighbors of mine who use names like "idiots":
Your ignorance speaks for itself... Do you, as say, a Old MV homeowner, survive on $50,000 a year? Do you have $30,000. invested in tools and equipment as we do? I have chosen to be a (successful)professional technician for over 30 years, and now have a wonderful family and home here in Mountain View.

Besides being a 47 year old "Idiot" technician AND home owner here in !!!!!WAVERLY PARK!!!!, Wife(PhD) also working full time, 2 kids in Mountain View Schools, I also am a board member on a local Non Profit, and have fellow board members that live in Old Mountain View. And I know Council Members that live in your neighborhood that would be appalled at your narrow minded comments.

Or are you just a renter with an attitude and/or resentment at something else, and not really a proud member of the Mountain View community?

"Euro4" sounds more like Euro trash. If Europe is so great, WHY DON'T YOU GO BACK THERE? We don't need people like you in this country. You may work 15 hours a day and feel you make a comfortable salary, but at what cost? Have any family? Any family that loves you? You seem to have plenty of time to put your euro trash nose into other peoples lives. What good have you contributed lately besides making your profession in mismanagement? Have you contributed to this country or your community? These people walking the line are good honest AMERICANS; something you can't relate to (since you hide behind a "euro" name). They're not pot smoking/beer smoking Americans. They're your neighbors. They're the people you drive your Audi next to on the road. They're the ones shopping in the same grocery store you are. Support your fellow citizens and push back on corporate bureaucracy and greed. Don't make them take it like you have for obviously so many years. Wake up and smell the 10 flavors of coffee!

A scab is a person whoe crossed the picket line and went back to work WITH OUT A CONTRACT temporaraly until we get back.
A scab is some one who is generaly weak in charator and self worth, and is marginal at best in there job.
Ascab is a person that probably would have been fired anyway because of there performance. So by crossing the line they might feel that they have reinforced there stature in the eyes of the managment.
In other words, a kiss ass that can't do there jobs anyway.
These people are just temporary until we get back, so don't worry you will have pro's working when we get back.

Haa Ha Ha, you call them scabs and gutless cowards. Im I mistaken..Didn't they drive over your sore feet to get into the shop to make a paycheck for themselves and their family. You boys need to get back to work soon. I think the long exposure to the sun is making your brain swell. Hey guys. Unemployment is up. Wanna know why. The great unions you are out there fighting for ran all the other business out of the country. Wake Up.
