whopteee freakin doooooooooo.
now write a blog about that
typo in headline. Should be SURPRISE.
They were so surprised, that they misspelled it! Sprint's website says their 3G network has avg download speeds of about 1Mbps (peak 3 Mbps), while the 4G will average 5Mbps (peak 10Mbps).
Even though the carriers are marketing 4G now, most industry experts are calling it "3.9G" Long Term Evolution (LTE), which is Release 8 from the 3G Partnership Project (3GPP). Real 4G is being called LTE Advanced and will have even faster download speeds, when the standards are finalized in 3GPP Release 10. Speeds of hundreds of Mbps are expected for that next step.
You can see a local map of Clearwire's developer network for WiMAX 4G developers on Web Link. There was a symposium at Stanford on June 15th (see the agenda on Web Link) on 4G WiMAX which is the technology used by Sprint and Clearwire who are building out a nationwide network together.
wow!!! any of you watch star trek?
Yup. Picked up a 4g signal in DTMV the other day. Can't seem to get it anywhere else, though.
Don't miss out on the discussion!
