Only one other person would have entry to the apartments without breaking the door down. Hmmm...wonder who that would be?
Actually you should look up the practice of bumping locks. It's apparently not that difficult for someone with training to get past a locked door without a key. That may not be what happened here but it's one possible method that wouldn't leave a trace.
I was a victim of theft three times in just under 7 years that I lived at the Americana. Once from my storage unit in the parking garage and twice theives stole the wheels off my car. Other than that, it was fine.
Being a certified private investigator, lock picking of deadbolts and mortise locks was part of my training, and it's easier than you might think. Many years later, I've seen many web sites that will sell you lock pick tools, and hundreds of well-made videos on YouTube for picking various lock types that are right on par with the training I received. It's not rocket science. Not even close.
Is this near the Day Worker Center?
