Bullis Innovates. LASD not so much.

Original post made by Dee Jay Forte, another community, on Aug 9, 2013

The Los Altos School Board has locked students and teachers out of the Bullis Innovation School at the Blach Campus. The main purpose of Charter Schools in California is to foster innovation through competition. LASD has never really gotten with this program. Instead they compete by messing with the facilities that they are required, by law, to provide to In-district students who choose the Charter School Program. So if you are a parent of current or future LASD students what would you like to see included in LASD programs that are not currently provided?

My thought is that if can help them think about ways to improve their own program they won't find it so necessary to attack BCS the added benefit is that schools improve for ALL students not just those at the charter school. That's how charters are supposed to work.

MV Resident, LASD is a registered user.

This is a TOTAL misrepresentation of what LASD is doing.
A better approach would be to help BCS think of things they could do to comply with the law and facility requirements, rather than sue the LASD.

One thing that is certain - If a young BCS student were to be injured on the Blach Campus - there would be a law suit. I applaud the LASD for FINALLY learning this lesson and taking appropriate measures to try to preclude that from happening.

Don't miss out on the discussion!
