Police should always fire a warning shot to their head.

I happened to be in the neighborhood when this was happening. The MVPD did an excellent job of apprehending these creatures with a minimum of fuss. I was actually impressed.

I'm sure these suspects were just exercising their 2nd Amendment rights.

Dear Moreregulation,

If it makes you feel better, just remember that old truism, "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns".

@Whiskers

Great quote. Tell me, would active-duty law enforcement be barred from carrying guns, too?

Does this quote also apply to chemical and nuclear weapons? I'm quite satisfied to know my neighbors don't possess nukes, and if they acquired them that the state would pursue them.

It's obviously not an ideal comparison, but it's relevant. Check out the gun death stats of the UK--both homicidal and accidental.

@Really?,

Comparing gun crime in the U.S. that the culture is founded on guns, and comparing it to the U.K. whose culture strictly forbids guns makes about as much sense as comparing a tomato to a banana.

Knife crime is quite prevalent in the U.K. So much so, that statistically there is twice the rate of knife crimes in the U.K. as compared to gun crimes in the U.S. A great article with summaries and links to the statistical facts was written by Chad Perrin. I have included the URL to the article, Web Link.

Just to be clear about my analogy, guns and knives are both weapons, but very different. Bananas and tomatoes are both fruit, but, very different.

Good to hear that the CHP and MVPD are taking a sensible approach. Better to let the suspects run for a bit and eventually slip up, than to endanger regular people with a high-speed chase under hazardous road conditions. Also, it sounds like no shots were fired by either side during the chase and subsequent arrest. That's a relief -- innocent bystanders easily become the victims of stray bullets. Well done!
