Investigators are asking for the community’s help in identifying anyone who may have been victimized by a local man police say is a sexual predator.

The man, 31-year-old Cesar Urieta, was arrested on Feb. 18 on charges of causing a minor to distribute harmful material and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense, according to a recent post on the Mountain View Police Department’s blog.

According to police, Urieta had been renting a room from a Mountain View family for the past few years. During that time, investigators say, he had developed an increasingly inappropriate relationship with the family’s juvenile son — including sending “inappropriate messages” to the boy.

In the wake of Urieta’s arrest, detectives are asking that anyone else who may have been inappropriately contacted by Urieta to come forward and alert authorities.

“If you ever come across any questionable material, and you believe the child may be the victim of a sexual predator, call us,” said MVPD Det. Jessica Nanez. “Do not wait. It is our duty as adults, caretakers and responsible individuals to protect children from harm.”

Police are asking anyone with any information on this case to call 650-903-6344 and reference case number 14-0939.

  1. What on Earth does gay pride have to do with it. Gay pride, gay in closet. It makes no difference. You have a guy going after a kid. That would happen regardless of any gay pride movement. If a guy went after a young girl, would you be blaming in on the acceptance of heterosexuality, or on the sicko himself?
