Thousands of painted lady butterflies have been passing over the Peninsula this month as they migrate north from desert areas along the U.S.-Mexico border, according to scientists at UC Davis.

My 3rd grader noticed lots of these small butterflies on our bike ride Sunday along the Stevens Creek Trail. She asked if they were migrating Monarchs, and I told her they weren't (too small), but I didn't know what they were. Thanks for the info!
