Around Town, posted by Editor, Mountain View Voice Online, on Apr 2, 2009 at 2:35 pm

A regular Cuesta Park user says a large group of high school students, led by a uniformed Navy officer, are shoving old ladies aside as they jog the park's trails. The city's park rangers are looking into the allegation.

Oh my God! The terrible trials of a righteous citizen. A lack of courtesy among joggers. I'm truly shocked

Do they use it at the same time every day? If so don't go at that time. They are young and busy, and staying in shape.Good for them! Get over it. Maybe your in their way. Get a life Mr. Griffin.

How is this news? This is more like a rumor mill. Or just a If they are getting ready to join the Navy, good for them, and get out of the way.

The disturbing assumption of this incident is that the military is recruiting high school youngsters.

Cuesta Park is not part of St Francis's campus nor is it a military base. I would expect representatives of my country to teach young men courtesy, etiquette and respect for their fellow man.

Share the trail, guys.

If they are so good about trying to stay in shape, then they should be more fit to maneuver AROUND the casual park users, NOT make others get out of their way! Teach them respect early, especially if they are going to represent our wonderful country.

Where is the verification of ANY fact in this story. We have lots of speculation and nothing else. Does SF even have a pre-enlistment program???? Did anyone bother to check? How to we know its SF students? I know many groups who use cuesta park for their programs, including a new mommy and baby program...I heard those new mom's forced an old lady into a dumpster with relentless verses of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". (That's a joke, please don't write a story on that)

I know its not the Wall Street Journal, but come one, a little fact checking before print might be nice.

Lets simply find the group and remind them to leave room for all on the trails and not make a federal case out of it.

Maybe they are at Cuesta for training to protect the US from the mutant, assault squirrels.

A call to the SF Athletic Director Michael Pilawski would easily clarify any of these ridiculous assumptions. Shouldn't we be happy to see High Schooler exercise and do something to stay healthy. Please....... last I checked MV was the perfect place to raise kids.

Why is it, that Cuesta Park is always making news with the weirdest stuff, vicious squirrels and now a track team in training.....

I'll tell you why Cuesta Park is always making noise cause it'll get taken care of. It doesn't matter what they complain about it gets fixed, nevermind that the otherside of town is run with these rugrat gangs and it seems like noone can stop them. Let's have the Cuesta Park people move on this side of town and see how quick we get rid of the gangs on rengstorff and tyrella neighborhoods.

Park some ICE trucks at Rengstorff. That would clear it out quickly.
