The Parisian Burger from Linda's still stands out in my mind. The strawberry, chocolate and vanilla shakes along with the tater tots were a favorite treat. The location near El Monte was an easy stop on my way to Foothill College. I remember their Norwegian Fish sandwiche as well. Linda's was a favorite selection for a quick stop at lunch. I remember how greasy the little tater tot bags. The tater tots were hot, fried crispy brown shell on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. The burgers were very tasty and distinctly different from a regular burger because of the sauce. You would never desecrate the sauce with mustard and catsup.

In my mind, Linda is an icon for old vintage Mountain View. There were no laptops, cell phones or DVD's. Life was simple and the sandwiches were good. It was a favorite place to go after a good run down El Monte up to Foothill College or after a grueling Tennis match at Rengstorff Park or Cuesta. I can see John Swetka, Manny Juarrez, Carl Baptiste, Kim White, Ed Cop, Ed Dwulet, Dave Dwight, Fitz Bent, Grady Hurst, Leslie Jennings and on and on munching on a Linda's burger after a tough match.

Yes Linda's burger are a part of the Mountain View nostalgia forever etched in my memory. Whenever I am back in the area, I will make sure I stop at Armadillo's and Pexella's to taste a wonerful part of my past.

Back in 69' when Los Altos High were the Knights (ha, political correctness)no gay high school marches down Main St Los Altos, this was a great burger. The sauce and roll was it. The meat was not too hot. In fact, I remember being a 14yr old smart mouth and asking the old guy who owned the place if he used horse meat? He did not care for my comment, but didn't yell at me. Just starting explaining how important his Linda burger was to him. Now, I wish Linda's was back, in fact, I would drive the 150 miles to just have one. Everything is junk now, with no flavor. Just plastic corp food.

One correction-

Linda's was not actually demolished but rather remodeled into

the current camara store configuration.

If you compare the old building with the new- you can easly see that they are simular.

Lindas was closed down by the board of health for a while, they found rodent hairs in the meat.
