Palo Alto votes to ban foam take-out containers

Polystyrene containers, those foamy boxes commonly used to store Chinese take-out or to save a sandwich for the road, will soon be taken out of Palo Alto restaurants for good.

This is SO exciting! Polystyrene is quite destructive on the environment in many ways; Palo Alto is following the lead of many other cities who have succeeded with this decision. My hope is that Mountain View can revisit this issue now that Palo Alto is showing us it is possible and doable.

Lets hope Mtn. View has more common sense than Palo Alto. Banning something imposes a one size fits all solution on everyone and leads to all kinds of unintended consequences. Restricting retailers may not restrict consumers who may just bear the cost themsleves.
