Low turnout expected for special election
Elections, posted by Editor, Mountain View Voice Online, on May 18, 2009 at 2:03 pm

Tuesday is an election day in California, and voters will be presented with six measures aimed at balancing the budget. But recent polls -- and expectations at the registrar's office -- suggest that not many of those voters will bother to show up, and that those that will are generally in a negative mood about the measures. City councilor Andronovich stated that $ 11. billion can be attributed to every illegal alien, who breaks into America, get a free lunch on the taxpayers in Los Angeles county. That's just Los Angeles? What about the rest of the state? How about the taxes extracted from every American, throughout AMERICA? Give a resounding--- NO--- to all propositions. Recall that Proposition 187 was killed, so now Sacramento Democrats must be held accountable. Every year trillions of dollars go silently to supporting the illegal immigration invasion, plus a new AMNESTY will keep extracting money from your taxes to pay for those who keep coming across our border. Join NUMBERSUSA JUDICIALWATCH to stop 2nd AMNESTY? NO MORE TAXES TO PAY ILLEGAL ALIENS & FAMILIES! IMMIGRATION LAWS ARE NOT BROKEN, JUST NOT ENFORCED! So enforce the 1986 Simpson/Mazzoli bill, the Immigration Reform & Control Act as enacted. Offer your support to Rep.Shuler (D-NC) on his gov website. Sad that once again as always in America's history we find a way to focus the blame on immigrants instead of looking to solve the major problems within the bureaucratic nightmare that we call government. While the measures put up for vote in California are merely a bandaid that will not fix the problems of our troubled budget situation, to insinuate that it is prudent to simply vote all measures down as a way of showing the government that something must be done about illegal immigration is not only nonsensical, it also is irresponsible. Look at each measure decide its value and vote your conscience tomorrow.

It's no surprise the legislature's polling numbers are so low. Setting up a budget and dealing with these issues is their job, and nearly their whole job. Instead they pushed it off on the electorate to make the politically unpalatable choices. Sacramento should find some guts and make some compromises instead of chickening out and taking hard lines.
