The Navy stalling on Hangar One? No surprise there. Why isn't anyone approaching the Google Execs (Sergey Brin and Larry Page) to get involved with preservation of Hangar One? For two years they have had landing rights at Moffett (starting with their Boeing 767) In October 2008 they purchased a Dornier Alpha Jet that they are storing in a hangar at Moffett Field. The Google founders also own several other jets. All of the planes have landing rights at Moffett, which is within a few miles of the Google campus. I never read much about what these 2 guys are doing for the local community.

I think it is time for Sergey and Larry to step up and get involved in the preservation of Hangar One, and if they have not already done so, they should make a significant donation to the Moffett Field Museum. Philanthropy should start in your own community. 15 Million is a drop in the bucket and they would have their names associated with a very worthy community project.

As a special events professional and vet I believe the hangers could produce a substantial income via a variety of channels ranging through expo, sports, theatrical, circus etc. public and commercial events. In this age of new technologies nothinbg is permanent, but 20 + year life span is common for many materials, by then it can pay for itself. J.L>

While we're at it, let's bring back the navy jets. They were really memorable, especially when they flew low and fast and loud. Moffett is a perfect location for a cargo only airport.
