Allen: You are assuming a lot for a missed and minor speech by the President. Do you really think missing the speech will negatively impact their development as good citizens? You should take issue more with the complete lack of civics education and national pride in school. That was thrown out with the pledge of allegiance in many classrooms. In that regard, a speech by the President is irrelevant these days. Although I do agree it would be better than listening to the superintendent spew his Continuous Improvement propaganda.
