Can health care really be fixed?

On Sept. 9, President Barack Obama gave a much-vaunted speech about health care reform, in which he called for swift action from Congress to change the current system of health care in America.

"The health care system has to be transparent in pricing. If you're going to have a baby, you have to know the cost of a two-night stay at El Camino Hospital. You don't know that. I don't know that! And you have to know what the cost is for the obstetrician's time and the anesthesiologist's time, who are not hospital employees. That has to be transparent."

I looked on the PAMF web site, and can't get any information on the charges of the physicians or surgery centers of the PAMF. If Dr. Slavin is serious about transparency, he could make sure PAMF was transparent. He is like many others - transparency is only for the other guys!
