Residents didn't just "claim" crime has gone down since those apartments were vacated-this was proven by statistics provided by local law enforcement agnecies. No more drug deals going down in Devonshire Park, no more gang crime and burglaries. Most of us in this neighborhood are hard-working and appreciate all that Ms. Matichak's association is doing to assure we don't have to deal with those same issues again. Anyone with a 6th grade education could see those apartments should not be inhabitied by human beings. Many of us have to look at that eyesore every day. I doubt city council would allow this in the downtown area, Cuesta Park or any of the other more affluent areas in Mtn View!

I wish the council would approve knocking the buildings down and hauling out the debris leftover.

This apt complex was dangerous when it was inhabited, thank goodness it got closed, but now it is just a magnet for squirrels, rats, termites, roaches, and every other pest looking for a hide-out. The entire thing needs an extreme makeover, and the longer they put off changes to the existing structures the more dangerous it becomes for any new inhabitants. So many changes need to be made it would be cheaper to just bulldoze the place, Ty Pennington style. As long as the structures stand the neighborhood looks blighted, and its bringing down the value of other Evandale buildings, as well as the neighborhood and businesses on N. Whisman. Who wants to set up shop by such an eye-sore?

There were workers back on site there this morning. Looked and sounded like they are attaching new blue tarps to the roofs. Some of the apartment doors were open as well, but don't know what they were doing inside.

I wonder if the city approves of this and/or is monitoring the work there?
