The Spartan Jazz Ensemble and Studio 501 Big Band received "superior" and "excellent" ratings for their performances at the California Music Educators Association Festival on Friday, Feb. 5.

The Jazz Ensemble was given a "superior" in sight reading and for its overall performance. Studio 501 received "excellent" ratings in all categories. The ratings given are superior, excellent, good, fair and needs improvement.

On Saturday, Feb. 6, the Spartan Winter Percussion and Winter Guard teams earned fourth place finishes at a competition at Amador Valley High School. Winter Guard took second place at a Homestead High School competition in January.
