Spartan girls basketball takes division title

The Mountain View High School girls basketball team secured a 50-44 win [Web Link Friday against Monta Vista,] clinching the program's first title in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League's De Anza Division.

Junior Sharissa Estemera led the Spartans to victory, with 22 points. Kristie Taguma came up with nine points, and Sarah Wada scored eight.

Friday's win meant the Spartans finished their regular season with a 16-8 record -- 9-3 in the De Anza division. Seedings for the Central Coast Section tournament will be announced this weekend. Go Spartans!
