Anjeli has been speaking French on and off, as we mostly communicate in English in our mixed heritage family. I am trying to speak French to my daughter as much as I can, but as every knows, the more the kids are immersed into school and social activities, the harder it get to motivate them to speak another language. Her French would get a boost on our yearly vacation overseas, then slowly fade over the year.
The EFBA class not only gave Anjeli an additional motivation to speak French by offering a total French immersion and social context once a week, but it also taught her in the past few months to start reading in French, in a fun and playful way.
