I love high speed rail. I've taken them many times in Japan and China and they are clean, fast, efficient and comfortable.

That said, just kill the SF-LA high speed rail project. The NIMBYs will never let it happen and will drive up the legal costs to completely unreasonable levels.

Given the price tag, it will never pay for itself or be self-sustaining. If Caltrain can't sustain itself, there is no way this ever will.

Just put a bullet in the project and move on to something else because this will just get tied up in legal red tape for another decade at least.

Lawyers, politicians, eco-nuts, and community activists in a circular firing squad.

The only thing to do now is to pop some popcorn and pull up a seat to watch them blast each other and kill off this boondoggle.
