Texting and driving is even stupider than drinking and driving. We need to change our laws to give mandatory jail sentences for either crime.

@MADD - Really? Texting and driving is "stupider" than drinking and driving?

If that's so then why are the police exempt? They are allowed to use their phone (talking or texting) while driving.

The campaign against cells phone and driving is so silly. It's really wierd how we can be distracted by a dozen other things (passengers, food, stereos, navigation systems) but we just can't stand the thought of someone talking or texting.

I agree it is a distraction. But it's not even the leading distraction blamed for accidents (see my list above). When you actually read the reports on "distracted driving" cell phone use is usually 7th or 8th on the list.

How about we ban car stereos? Afterall, they are not required to get us from Point-A to Point-B. They are a pure distraction, no way to argue otherwise.

The idea you think people should sit in JAIL just for texting while driving is really crazy. Talk about a waste of money.
