You might occasionally see around Mountain View — in the vicinity of the Sunday Farmers Market, the Caltrain station and the Post Office — several petition circulators with signs dangling from their necks reading "Impeach Petition to MV City Council." Probably two-thirds of passing pedestrians are puzzled about what exactly the signs mean.

Thank you Mr. Duperrault for writing this editorial. This is the most important issue in the nation today: citizens and cities demanding that our Representatives fulfill their oaths to protect and defend the Constitution by investigating Vice President Cheney for suspected crimes committed in his capacity as Vice President. There are a least a dozen easily provable impeachable offenses on public record for Cheney. One of the latest and worst is his involvement in economic crimes that are hurting every American except the most wealthy. Cheney has been in the driver's seat for illegal policies ranging from wiretapping to torture to lying us into war to the treasonable act of threatening war on Iran without the authority of Congress. Cheney has an approval rating in the teens. Over 60% of americans surveyed nationally think he has abused the power of his office. If there was ever a time to use the Constitutional remedy of impeachment, this is it! Ask your Congressperson to demand immediate impeachment hearings. There are substantiated rumors of an attack on Iran. For the sake of our own security we cannot strike Iran. The onlyway to stop it is to start impeachment hearings, which as Mr. Duperrault points out, are like a grand jury investigation. This could take as little as a week-- the evidence is readily available. Cheney will resign rather than face full hearings and a trial in the Senate. This is what happened with Nixon; he resigned a few months after his impeachment hearings began.

Impeach Bush (and Cheney) before he attacks Iran at the end of his term in office with the hope of becoming an even larger historical hero president like god promised him for going into Iraq.
