Castro School, gang graffiti and apathy
Schools & Kids, posted by Ignored, a resident of another community, on Aug 24, 2012 at 12:50 am

There has been gang graffiti at Castro school all summer long. Still there. Unless there is some new MV program that is called "XIV NORTE" that advertises with spray paint and sharpies.

Today there were a bunch of teenagers hanging out at the school in the parking lot, flying colors and covering their faces.

The MVPD dispatcher apparently didn't think it was worth giving to an officer, since no one bothered to show up or call back.

Thanks for nothing MVPD

thanks @ingnored. I'm checking with the MVPD on their incident reports to see what they recorded. This is an area where school board candidates could 'inform themselves' better, perhaps by requesting a meeting with the city! I'll bring this matter to their attention (we've been chatting) as this seems one extremely important item for this school.

BTW, when I have substitute taught at Castro over the last 5 years - I have not noticed this as a problem during the school year - during the school day. Could it be more of a 'summer' problem?

The MVPD has a new temporary community liaison. She checked the recordings on the days mentioned and found that graffiti had been reported (and was then later removed) but there was no record of a call on 'gang members hanging.'
