Meteor zips over Bay Area, lands with sonic boom

A large meteor streaked across the night sky Wednesday night and was seen and heard throughout the Bay Area.

Saw it last night and it lasted for about 5 to 8 seconds. Was so bright with long tails and you can still see the object when the bright light was out and followed with loud sound after that. Size might be bigger when they find it out there unlike the regular meteor small rocks. Should be in the news soon I'm pretty sure hunters are out there right now!

I saw the meteor flash through the night sky while driving on El Camino towards Palo Alto. I followed its path over the Silicon Valley Community Foundation Building. Then it was out of view. It was stunning especially with its fiery show.

Would like to see another!

I witnessed a smaller meteor that looked like it could have landed near the intersection of Almond and Avalon streets in Los Altos (area between Los Altos High and Almond Elementary) on Wed night. It was a ball of fire hurtling across the sky with a tail following...about 10" diameter if I was to guess?
