Measure M would limit top El Camino salaries
Around Town, posted by Editor, Mountain View Voice Online, on Oct 18, 2012 at 4:28 pm

The CEO and many upper management officials working for El Camino Hospital could see their paychecks greatly reduced this November if voters approve a measure to cap compensation at the local health care organization.

Sounds to me like both sides are greedy - execs are getting paid way too much, and the union only cares whether it's getting it's share of the pie.

We need better info on the reality

- Where do current exec salaries fit in the industry standard payscales? If it's more than 60%, it is too much.

And the same applies to union employees - except here benefits and pensions are really hard to evaluate, and there are lots of accounting tricks that hide the real costs (just like government employees)

I strongly support Measure M. I think capping executive pay is a great idea. The CEO still be generously compensated at twice the governor's salary and he makes over 200,000 per year.

El Camino Hospital shouldn't pay their top executives more than what a doctor there would make. When was the last time the CEO saved a life?

Vote YES on Measure M. Capping of salaries is quite common at public hospitals. Doctors are given caps by Medicare, why should it be any different for CEOs?

Too much hearsay. I'm not surprised that the hospital's executives and the union representatives say what they say.

Read Wikipedia "Executive Pay in the United States" and you'll wind up voting for Measure M. Look at the graph included there. Executive pay has become irrational in the U. S.
