Train Depot to sell wine, beer and delicacies

The six-year search for a business to take over the long-vacant Train Depot ended without a word Tuesday night, as an application for a "wine and beer bar" went unchallenged on the City Council's consent calendar.

Does it bother anyone else that the city would charge a train depot $54,000 to spend on building free parking spaces? I thought the idea of this building was to serve train and light rail passengers. All this does is subsidize driving at the expense of the depot's customers.

Jon, I think you misunderstand the parking fee-- I believe the tenant is being charged the fee because they will not have any dedicated parking. The funds will go into a city fund which they use to build parking structures.
