MV Whisman: New algebra requirement not a problem

Local administrators say a new state ruling that requires all eighth graders to take Algebra I will not affect their previous plans to overhaul the math system and raise the achievement gap among Latino students.

Translated: Local administrators are going to blow off the new requirement. They are only interested in "getting kids ready for Algebra" but never actually being able to do it.
