Helping the helpless

Original post made on May 21, 2013

Though burn victims in this country may emerge from the hospital with significant scars, chances are they will ultimately be able to return to their day-to-day routine -- even if people's stares make them uncomfortable.

i don't agree. The last time I helped a person they ended up just getting Liquor and little caesar's pizza. I couldn't believe it. My friend becky and I just stood there dumbfounded. If you're asking for handouts, you should just get a job instead.

So ONE person lets you down, and you give up on everyone. WOW! You are a hard person. Maybe next time, give your "handouts" to a known charity and not to a person on the street.

By the way, I am sure you have worked very hard, but you have also been lucky. Jobs are not THAT easy to come by for everyone and in the recent past, not that easy for anyone.

To Joanie:
What does your experience of giving money to a person have to do with surgeries for children?
Please state where in the article were you asked to give any money.

So now we're just giving out plastic surgeries to people in other countries? This is insane! I can't go down to Mountain View City Hall and ask them to pay for my tummy tuck, so why should people in other countries benefit so? Next up is boob jobs for children I bet. Get real people!

Becky did you even read the article?

1) The organizations heading this is an NGO so no, You/We are not giving away anything, a private entity is.

2) Yes, these people are donating their time and compassion to provide cleft pallet and burn recovery surgeries. To equate this with a cosmetic boob job is not a well thought out comparison.

3)If you're gonna harp on something, at least harp on what they ACTUALLY do. Here's something to improve your comprehension of the issue:

ReSurge International (formerly Interplast) provides free reconstructive surgeries for the poor and builds year-round medical access in underserved areas. It restores the dreams of those with deformities and injuries, and impacts the world by renewing the health of thousands of children and adults each year so they can go to school, provide for their families and contribute to society.

You mention it not being used for boob jobs, but then you immediately say cleft pallet! Google defines cleft as "Split, divided, or partially divided into two.", so clearly you are talking about cleavage!

HA!

Try to trick me? I'm much smarter than you.

I will fight this measure as long as I have to. No children will be getting free boob jobs on my watch!

If you're trying to be funny Becky, you're failing miserably.

If you're being serious, you really need to go back to school -- in your case, elementary school
