Civility roundtable on guns and school violence tonight

Original post made on May 30, 2013

"Could Sandy Hook happen here?" is the headline for tonight's civility roundtable, an event organized by the Human Relations Commission that aims to engage opposing views in a civil dialogue about school shootings and gun laws.

Of course it could happen here. In fact, given the outdoor campus style of MVHS, it would be far more difficult to detect and stop here then in a school with limited entrances/exits. The kid who work the gas mask on Valentines day was in the Packard Hall playing the French Horn for several minutes before the police arrived. If you don't think Sandy Hook could happen here, you're either naive or wildly optimistic.

The Sandy Hook narrative makes no sense, so if you're asking whether a staged and clearly fabricated terror narrative could be presented here, the answer is yes. Try using your critical thinking faculties once in a while.

If you want to prevent authentic school shootings, ban the prescription of SSRIs and other mind-altering drugs to teenagers. SSRIs, specifically, are implicated in ALL of the school shootings over the last twenty years or so. Prozac and Zoloft and all the rest of the SSRI drugs are second cousins to methamphetamine. Roll that one around in your head for a while.

That kid who shot up Sandy Hook broke five gun laws.

Hmmmmm.

With more gun laws, the kid would have broken more gun laws.

Let's pass more laws that will be applied to law abiding citizens and be ignored by mass murderers.

Leave law abiding citizens less able to protect themselves from mass murderers.
