Even if the redestricting were to occur, the likelihood is that the kids in these units would go to different schools anyway. Most of our south Palo Alto schools are so overcrowded that new residents and transfers are put into Barron Park or Briones schools, west of El Camino, as those are the schools with space. If these children were to apply for kindergarten next year, then Fairmeadow school which is their neighborhood school, would have too many kindergarten registrants again as they always have and it would probably mean a lottery to get into their neighborhood school.

My kids don't play with their next door neighbors, they are in the same school - same class sometimes - and don't play together. They play with others. In fact my elementary child plays with kids further down the street that go to a different school and are in a different grade. You can't make kids best friends with their next door neighbors, it just happens.

and that with TWO old elementary school campuses in town?

The Slater closing in Mtn View by the previous district administration remains controversial, but the tenants on the two campuses that have been vacated have rental agreements that end at staggered dates in case of future need. PA certainly has the resources, do they not have the management acumen to deal with this?
