Christian Reasons to Support Prop 8 (Response)

Jesus in the Bible said:

Matt 19:5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?

Matt 19:6 So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

That is the Biblical Model for marriage and brings clarity to your point #1 that it was a reference to Man-Woman marriage not, same-sex.

You point #2 is to broad to speak to the specifically to marriage. It could refer to a funeral, baptism or helping those in need. Marriage was formed to bring up another generation with support of each partner. A man and a woman each bring something unique to a family.

Bottom line in this - Prop 8 voted in DISCRIMINATION into our state constitution. It is no different from banning interracial marriage. Marriage and a civil union are separated by many rights, and it is unfair and WRONG to define marriage as something your religion defines it as. The fight against Prop 8 is NOT over, and I assure you, it is a fight that will be won with time.
