My friend and I were driving by on 101-S and we actually got to see it happen...cars were slowing down to watch... As we passed the multiple ramps on/off 85, there was this HUGE orange explosion about 100ft high--and this hidden house we'd never noticed there before was engulfed in flames. Looked like a gas leak, but why wasn't that part of the story reported?

I wasn't there but it probably started in the heavy duff and pine needles under one of the trees. There are plenty of dry needles in the canopy of pine trees to get the fire started and give it a head start. Overhead wires are a big concern in a fire. Maybe PGE should put wires under the freeway when they fix the roads. You can't build homes under high volatage lines why can we drive under them?
