Why are residents opposed to this location for the Day Worker Center? Don't they see the benefit of having their children exposed to enlightened cultural experiences as they walk past the mobs of ogling loiterers? Not all are unfriendly though, it's usually just a couple of hecklers while the rest laugh at the antics. As long as residents don't plan on moving they won't have to worry about falling property values. And now residents won't have to see so many day laborers on the El Camino Real from Showers Drive to San Antonio Road, because many will be relocated in their neighborhood, freeing up the shopping center parking lots. As a retail employee in the San Antonio Shopping Center I know firsthand what residents will see: Day Laborers gambling, drinking alcohol, harassing passersby, soliciting work under the table and fighting with each other over who's next in line when a shady contractor arrives.
