Google is allowing users to have more control over how their online persona is represented in search results.
Company officials have reportedly realized that many users were unhappy with what they saw when searching for themselves on Google.
So Google announced yesterday a new feature that allows Google account holders to fill in a personal profile, similar to a Facebook profile, that will show up in Google search results for that person's name.
It may also help people with common last names stand out on the internet. And it means Google is now competing with social networking Web sites to some degree.
