The Grant Road Open Space Fights Not Over; Please Join Our Cause! Around Town, posted by Daniel Mart, a resident of the Cuesta Park neighborhood, on Nov 7, 2009 at 10:09 am Daniel Mart is a member (registered user) of Mountain View Online
Hi you all,
Please join our cause to preserve and protect the over-century-old open space on Grant Road in Mountain View, one of our last remaining patches of natural wilderness:
Developers have so much money; they basically use the status quo to say "screw you" to the public. Public hearings on housing and hotel developments are a joke, as the developer already knows that they've won; there is just so much money in these types of developments, and city governments are too cowardly and special...-interest-serving to stand up to for the greater good.
The status quo "has to change."
And anyway ... nobody is even buying houses now! And San Jose is currently seeing a record amount of empty office space!

That's my house, in front of the white 2 story! We sold it and moved in 2000 to Phoenix, AZ. We loved the orchard next door, the incredible mustard grass and blooming apricot trees. I absolutely support fighting development of open space; I live in the foothills 50 miles north of Phoenix; until the economy crashed hundreds of thousands of acres of prime Sonoran Desert were cleared for development, some of which sit wasted now. I will sign any petition anywhere to preserve open space.
