Original post made by extra!credit on Jan 8, 2010

Mountain View high student Reed Tankersley of Los Altos will head to Miami, Florida Jan. 11-16 for YoungArts Week. The program, put on by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, affords young visual, literary and performing artists the opportunity to participate in master classes, performances and exhibitions.

Tankersley joins 23 California finalists among the 143 total participants in next week's events--selected from over 4,000 applicants. Of the young artists, some will eventually win up to $10,000 in prize money, or visit the White House to be honored as Presidential Scholars in the Arts for 2010.
