Thanks for posting this link. The full Voice-related excerpt from the NYT article:

Reaction from city residents in the comment section of the local newspaper, The Mountain View Voice, fell into two camps. A comment under the name "a nony mouse" said: "Google is funding Mtn View police and firemen and schools and free internet. Don't bite the hand that feeds you."

But another commenter calling himself "Thom, a resident of the Shoreline West neighborhood," wrote: "This isn’t Google View, this is Mountain View. I urge the members of the council to tell Google we are not going to bend to their threats."

It all comes from this Town Square discussion: Web Link

Somewhat surprising that anonymous blog quotes from the Town Square are finding their way into the NY Times as representing community opinion. A new high in journalistic standards.

The 1985 plan had planned the north of bayshore population at about 35,000 but this was reduced to about zero due to earthquake worries.

Seismologically speaking, what has changed??

"A new high in journalistic standards."

The "major" media has been going down for a long time. News is based on perception rather than reality. And I'm sure that my quote in the article does in fact does represent a lot of citizens that have lived in Mountain View for a majority of our lives. It is our city and our voices should and do make a difference.

Thanks for posting the link Don.
