I recall that TCE can also degrade into more toxic vinyl chloride. In the mid-90's I used to help monitor the groundwater wells around the former CTS Printex plume near Rengstorff and 101. It is amazing how many silicon valley companies mismanaged their wastes not so long ago. I wonder how things are handled in Taiwan and China now that the majority of circuit boards are made there. I fear the situation there is probably worse than it ever was here. Oh, the price our planet pays for cheap electronics.
