Gas Pipeline in Mountain View? Around Town, posted by Concerned, a resident of the Cuesta Park neighborhood, on Sep 14, 2010 at 9:28 am
Like everyone, I am shocked by the tragedy in San Bruno and wondered if my neighborhood was also at risk. I have been trying to get on the website for the National Pipeline Mapping system (Web Link) to see what lies under our neighborhoods, but it has been unavailable due to a high traffic of visitors, undoubtedly with the same concerns. Has anyone been able to get on there and check out Mountain View? I would appreciate if you could share your findings here.
My prayers go out to the people of San Bruno who lost loved ones, their homes, or even those who just lost their peace of mind after this horrible event.

Thanks for posting that link. I've been wondering, especially since all the infrastructure on our street dates back to the 1950s, just like in San Bruno -- and, they've dug up our street four times in the last few weeks to fix the water mains!

One of my neighbors looked up the info for the Monta Loma neighborhood. Looks like there's a big gas pipeline going underneath Middlefield Road. And no others in the vicinity.
