Visit the Main Street Café and Books in Los Altos from May 1-30 to see children’s art from the Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) at Finn Center. The Kids Art on Main Street exhibition, sponsored by the Los Altos Cultural Association and CSMA, will showcase the creative talents of 40 young artists (grades K-6).

Art on display comes from CSMA’s Arts in Action program at Montclaire, Santa Rita, Springer, and St. Nicholas schools. The work was created during the 2007-08 school year in weekly AIA classes taught by CSMA faculty members Edie Bella (Springer School), Celeyce Matthews (Montclaire and St. Nicholas Schools), and Pamela Ritchey (Santa Rita School).

On Tuesday, May 6, 5:30-7 pm, Main Street Café and Books will host a reception for the children, their families and friends. Children will be presented with an award certificate in recognition of their artistic achievement.

"This is the fifth year that work from students in Arts in Action (AIA), CSMA’s arts-in-the-schools program, has been featured at the café.” said Linda Covello, CSMA's Visual Arts Director. “The exhibition includes a mix of subjects and media, including collages, watercolor and tempera paintings, pen and ink drawings and more. Having the opportunity for the children to share their work in a public venue is a wonderful experience for them and a chance for the community to enjoy the creativity of these young artists.”
