Football under the lights for MVHS
Schools & Kids, posted by Editor, Mountain View Voice Online, on Oct 16, 2012 at 7:08 am

Excitement and frustration were in the air Monday night, as the school board voted to allow Mountain View High School students to hold their Oct. 26 home game against Homestead High School at night under temporary lights. The students were elated, while neighbors took a darker view.

..."worried about noise, light pollution, traffic, drug and alcohol use (of teens and adults alike), and general hooliganism. Some worried that there is a hidden agenda to eventually open the door to more night games in the future and install permanent lights on the school's football field."

With views like this, how would you EXPECT kids to act?

doom gloom and hate.....and ignorance... really sad to see that even coming up in the conversation.. I'd be embarassed to have views like this towards our next generation of adults.. give them some credit. Or move.

As a former MVHS football player I am very excited for the team to play under the lights on their home field. We had to play at Foothill, and it just wasn't the same. I don't know what these neighbors expect to happen, but the increased land value that a quality school like MVHS brings to an area is well worth the "headache" one night game might bring to the neighborhood.

I for one hope this does lead to permanent lights and regular night games.
