Want to adopt a pet? 'Shelters First' offers deal through December

For those interested in a pet, the six animal shelters in the Silicon Valley are holding an adoption special this month. The shelters created "Shelters First," a campaign to encourage pet-loving households to choose their next pet from one of their locations.

I can't emphasize strongly enough how much joy I get from my two rescue dogs. I'm convinced they know that they are rescued -- they certainly show their appreciation every day. Although they came to me as puppies, I have also adopted older dogs from the shelter, and I have felt the same love and joy. Anyone thinking of bringing a pet into their home should definitely start at the shelter!
